I had to read a biography in my 9th grade English class, and I randomly picked the book called THE NINE DAYS QUEEN. Jane's story haunted and moved me to tears. I was rather disappointed to see in the movie that they portrait her marriage to Dudley as bein a happy one. She had an even harder life than portrayed. She was so inspirational,surviving countless abuses, the death of the closest mother figure she had (Catherine Parr), and finally dying for her loyalty to her faith. I hope that I gain even a shred of her morality.

I first became interested in Lady Jane Grey while in jr. high. It's been close to 30 years since then and I once again find myself interested in reading her story. I appreciated the pictures. Went to London a couple of summers ago and visited the Tower of London. That really helps bring the truth of the story home to me. A great web page, but I think you should prehaps note that Lady Jane was very determined not to marry Guildford Dudley, her mother beat her severely in order to persuade her to change her mind. (It is questionable as to whether Edward did visit her at tha time to request she change her mind, but as she trusted neither her parents or Northumberland, it is probable that a visit may have taken place.)

Great site! I believe that what makes Jane such an interesting historical character is her faith in God. Her letters reflect a quiet confidence, a peace and joy, that can be found only through knowlege of Him. God may well have used Jane's death and he correspondence to touch the lives of thousands for generations to come. I am sure Jane was comforted by the words of the Apostle Paul, "O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"

It is truly great to see some interest over the internet on Lady Jane even if it be for different reasons. Since I first saw the movie years ago I studied her biography some and she was a great hero of the Protestant faith. My wife as well as other women of the Reformed faith and other faiths hopefully look up to her as one of the few couragious female heros of old. She was a staunch Calvinist Chris ian and a bold one. Many are unaware of her religious convictions. I think it would be good to discuss some of these on your site. For example the great Scottish Reformer was the chaplain to Edward VI. No doubt she was under similar tutelage. It is a sham that few books are in print any longer.

As an archaeologist and historian I have learned that quite a bit of Hollywood's views of historical figures is fictional. No one will know the personal feelings of a character without documents to substantiate what we hear. But the movie made for great entertainment and we would all like to believe in true love.

Unfortunately, I'm not as big on English history as I'd like to be (being a computer programmer kinda cuts down on time. Even my website is suffering =( ). I regularly try to look around for interesting figures. I'm definitely going to need to do some research on Lady Jane. On the side, I'm a philosopher (I've been published in a couple journals and such), and I try to make use of such stories to prove poi ts about individualism and what power a person wields. I'm so glad to see that there's so many people out there interested in Lady Jane Grey... I, myself, have been fascinated with her eversince I saw that miovie starring Helena Bonham Carter and Cary Elwes. I have to admit though that I was very disappointed when I found out that the relationship between Guildford and Jane was far from rosy... which leads me to this "puzzlement", if the relationship between them is as described by their biographers, how then did the inscription "Jane" turned up on the wall of the cell where he was held prisoner for treason? Was it for his Mother who was also called Jane or was it for his young wif ?? Well, I'll be going to London this coming Monday and I will definitely be checking out the cell where Guildford inscribed "Jane" on its wall. I think I would like to believe that Guildford and Jane were truly deeply in love with each other as portrayed by Helena and Cary in the movie...

I was quite impressed by your promising beginning, but am now somewhat disappointed to find that you,ve not added or changed anything since then. You may also recall that I mentioned the name of t e bridge in you photo-gallery is "Tower Bridge," not "London Bridge." London Bridge is a thoroughly modern structure, having replaced the London Bridge that I knew in my childhood (during the 50's). The older London Bridge was dismantled by an American agnate, and reassembled somewhere in the United States (Arizona?). The Brits would never consent to the removal of Tower Bridge, believe me.
